“× base” is the local-currency price per 1 US dollar of the base price. Every number in the table can be typed over.
How this is calculated, and what to distrust
- Local price = base USD × the region multiplier, snapped to that currency’s usual price ending.
- USD equivalent = local price ÷ the FX rate in the table. That is the number that tells you whether a region is cheap.
- Net = local price, minus VAT/GST where the price is tax-inclusive, minus the Steam cut, converted to USD.
- Blended net = every region’s net weighted by its share of your unit sales.
The FX table is static. It is a hand-entered snapshot, not a live feed, and it will drift. The multipliers are Valve’s October 2022 recommended conversions for a $9.99 tier, which is the last time they published a full reset. Check the live suggested prices in Steamworks before you commit anything.
Regions that changed since. Valve moved Türkiye, Argentina and the CIS/Russia region off local currency and onto USD pricing (Nov 2023 for TRY and ARS). They are listed here as USD regions at their post-move relative level. VAT rates are national headline rates: the EU row is a single blended figure, and real EU VAT runs from 17% (Luxembourg) to 27% (Hungary). US sales tax is added on top of the sticker price, not baked into it, so the US row shows 0%.
Do not price by FX alone. Undercutting the recommendation in a low-income region buys you units; overshooting it buys you key resellers and grey-market arbitrage. Steam blocks large regional price mismatches for exactly that reason.
