What the audit checks, and why

• Short description, 100–300 characters. It is the text under the capsule in search, in the queue and in every wishlist email. Steamworks will not let you past 300 characters. Below 100 reads as unfinished, and the hover card shows only the front of it, so the hook goes first.
• Five screenshots minimum. Steam shows four above the fold on desktop. Fewer than five and the carousel looks abandoned.
• At least one trailer. The video autoplays on the store page. A page without one converts noticeably worse.
• Achievements, Cloud, controller. Cheap to add, they appear as filterable features, and Deck players filter on controller support constantly.
• Ten reviews for a score, fifty for a “Very”. Below ten Steam prints no label at all, which is worse than a mediocre one.
• Steam Deck compatibility. The Deck runs your Windows build through Proton, so a missing Linux binary is not the problem. What costs you players is an anti-cheat or a launcher Proton cannot run, and a page with no Verified badge on it.

Caveats. Prices, review counts and player numbers come from the public Steam endpoints in US dollars for the US store, cached for up to six hours. The category list Steam returns does not distinguish full from partial controller support in every case. Live player counts are noisy for anything under a few hundred concurrents, and unreleased games return nothing at all. A high audit score does not mean the game sells; it means the page is not costing you sales. The Deck rating is the compatibility report Valve publishes on the store page itself; an app Valve has not rated reads as unknown here.
