The discounts you are allowed.

Steam has rules about how often you can put a game on sale, and they are easier to break than to read. Put your launch date and your planned discounts in, and get told which ones Valve will refuse.

Launch

15%
Optional. Zero means you are launching at full price. The slider stops at Steam's maximum.
7d
Valve allows a launch discount for about two weeks.
A price rise locks you out of custom discounts for 30 days afterwards. Leave it blank if you are not raising the price.

Planned discounts

Seasonal sales are opt-in and Valve runs the discount for you, so they are not listed here. Add only your own custom discounts.

Validation

    The rules encoded here

    • Launch discount: allowed at release and for roughly two weeks after. It does not start a cooldown for the purposes of joining a seasonal sale.
    • 30-day cooldown: after a custom discount ends, the next custom discount cannot start for 30 days.
    • 30 days either side of a price increase: raise the price and you cannot discount for 30 days; run a discount and you cannot raise the price until 30 days after it ends.
    • 90% maximum: Steam will not accept a discount deeper than 90%.
    • Seasonal sales are exempt: a Valve-run seasonal sale does not consume your cooldown, and you can join one during a cooldown. Custom discounts, however, are generally not allowed to run inside a major seasonal sale.
    • Two weeks maximum: a custom discount that runs much longer than a fortnight is unusual and eats into the next window.

Check this against Steamworks before you commit. Valve changes the discounting rules without much notice and the exact cooldown has moved before. The seasonal sale dates below are estimates based on the pattern of recent years, not announcements — Valve confirms them to partners a few months out. Treat this as a planning aid, not a rulebook.
